Pilot Lenses

As a pilot you know you need completely unobstructed vision across both the distance and the near portions of your lens. Once again, the executive bifocal lens comes to the rescue. The executive is the only lens that can do just that, so you can quickly move your eyes and not your head to see your instrumentation and controls very sharply.

We navigate our pilot customers’ needs on an individual basis. Send us a picture of you in the plane so we can fully visualize your working reality and make custom adjustments to your lenses for your specific plane’s heights and distances. Executive bifocal lenses will give you sharp vision beyond your expectations. All I need is a call from you to help get this “off the ground.” Call Dale at 262-534-6090.

Dale made two custom glasses for me to use in my work as an airline pilot. I needed executive bifocals that drew the dividing line at the glare shield and had tint that didn’t block out the digital instrument panels. They are perfect! One for night and one for day. And, importantly, they are still good looking glasses! Recommending to my other pilot friends and I will use them again in a heartbeat. Thank you.

I couldn’t wear ordinary bifocals because there was only a small bifocal area on the lower lens. I definitely couldn’t wear transitions because the distortion made me want to puke.

My solution was to have glasses made that had the reader along the entire bottom portion of the glasses.

The problem is that almost nobody will make glasses like these. However, I found a guy in Wisconsin named Dale Fluegge who makes these “executive” bifocals and I wanted to share that with you. I was happy with working with him by correspondence.

Me personally, I wear contacts for distance so the upper lense is 0.0 plano. The bottom is 1.25 reader. I used an old Randolph birth control frame because I had one laying around but he can do this for any frame. I have mine set up so that the blur happens either just above or just below the mode control panel depending on how snug I wear the glasses, in an area I don’t really notice it and it’s of little consequence.

I hope he can help you as much as he helped me.
